Ban Thakhai- short forest trekking

Go for a jungle hike just across the river and learn about the growing plants, healing herbs and the exotic animals. On the other side of the jungle we get to visit the small village Ban Thakai where only 25 families of three different ethnic minority groups live together and work the land.
By taking this small trip you contribute directly to help the people in Ban Thakhai since some of the money goes to our village found which we use for school material, houses, planting of new trees and other things that will increase the living standard in Ban Thakhai.

Ban Thaxang- Buddhist temple excursion

Descend the magnificent Nam Ngum river in a traditional long-tail boat. At arrival in the village Ban Thaxang you get the chance to learn about silk weaving. After lunch in the village our guide will take you to the temple where the largest golden Buddha statue in Laos is situated. He will walk you through and teach you about Buddhism and about life as a monk. Maybe you will learn something about your future.

Herbal Sauna

Mixing a large number of different herbs and eucalyptus our gardener prepares this refreshing experience for you. It is really amazing to step in to an even more intense heat than the jungle, as the Lao people has done in hundreds of years. The different herbs are according to Lao tradition good for your health.
Afterwards cool off in the small spring water pool just outside.

Lao massage

At our newly built massage platform by the river our experienced staff performs traditional Lao massage.

Tubing

Grab one of our big inner tubes and take the boat upstreams, compete with your friends down streams and finish up with a spin in the "whirlpool" next to the boat landing. This is a great way to cool off on a hot afternoon.

Spend the day fishing

The best way to experience the magnificent Nam Ngum River is to go on a fishing tour.
Try your luck with the traditional Lao fishing equipment. Our guide knows all the best spots and will show you how to lure the fish onto the hook. At noon when the sun is high, we will seek the shade on the river banks and grill the cought fish for lunch. After a short rest we get back in the boat for another round of fishing before we return to the lodge.
